Title: A small piece of land - 1 Size: 2.05 MB Dimension:2048 X 2732 Time: September, 2017 Done on my iPad Pro In school, I was immensely impressed by the poems of William Wordsworth, especially Daffodils . Then in the art school at Baroda, our teacher,  Nasreen Mohamedi , asked us to draw a small piece of land i.e. 1 square foot. It was the most challenging drawing assignment I ever faced. It was then that I realized how beautiful and bountiful that small, seemingly insignificant, piece of earth was. Maybe it is all coming back. Then this probably is my tribute to Nasreen (an artist, a teacher and a friend, I immensely admired). Incidently, Daffodils was also titled as I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud . A state I am in. 

Remembering Molina

My beloved wife, Molina, passed away on 11th May, 2017. She was my world, my universe. With her passing away I seem to have lost everything. She was suffering from brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV) since last 4 years (June, 2013). It was difficult time. She fought the disease with great bravery. In spite of going through 2 surgeries, her smile remained intact. I loved, respected and admired her for many qualities but all these grew phenomenally during this testing time. She was a bundle of energy. A restless person. When her batteries were charged she couldn't sit still and when drained she slumped in bed. A photographer by profession, she was also a trained dancer (Visharad in Bharatnatyam) and a self-taught visual artist. Molina had child-like fascination for animals. This fascination remained her central subject both in photography and painting. She had spent a lot of her childhood visiting wild life sanctuaries, as her father, Mr. Hemendra Shah...
